September- June- part-time and full-time courses

COURSES: We run courses in general English, in which you will learn grammar, vocabulary and skills in speaking, listening, writing, reading, pronunciation and sentence structure. The students will do a range of activities throughout the lesson, such as written exercises, speaking in pairs and groups, role-plays, listening tests and games, usually based on a weekly topic, which ensures interest and attention is maintained throughout. We also run courses to prepare students for the University of Cambridge exams: FCE, CAE, CPE. Most students prefer an exam course because it is a good idea to have an internationally recognised qualification to leave London with. The exams are held every December and every June. We have recently begun running IELTS course to prepare students for the exam necessary for entry to UK universities. We can also offer courses in business English, which cover skills such as writing job applications, interviews or giving presentations.

TEACHERS: Our teachers are very experienced and well qualified with recognised English teaching qualifications and some of the teachers are examiners for the University of Cambridge international English exams.

LESSON TIMES: You can study at ELT for 4 hours, 10 hours or 15 hours per week.  4 hour students come on Tuesday and Thursday (12.30 to 2.30 on one day and 10.00 am to 12.00 pm on the other day).  10 hour students come on Monday and Friday from 10 am to 1 pm and Wednesday from 10 am to 2.30 pm.  15 hour students come every day.

IELTS: Exam for British universities

The University of Cambridge IELTS certificate is what students need if they want to study in any university in the UK and at many universities in the USA, Australia and New Zealand. These universities will only accept students whose first language is not English if they have a particular IELTS score on their certificate. Different universities require different scores. Click here to visit the IELTS website for more details.

We are running part-time and full-time, intensive courses designed to prepare students for the IELTS exam. Our prices are very low compared to most other language schools in London and the courses are taught by fully-qualified native English staff who are very experienced in teaching this and other Cambridge exam courses. We have no more than 15 students in a classroom.

Any student of upper-intermediate or advanced level English can join the course (What is my level?) The exam can be taken every Saturday at International House in central London

Executive ELT: Courses for business professionals

These courses are run on an intensive basis, with participants studying for anything up to 30 contact hours of lessons per week, or on a long-term weekly basis, with participants studying 3-15 contact hours per week.

The content of these courses is individually prepared to suit the needs of particular students:

  • for businessmen and women who, on taking a contract in London, find themselves suddenly submerged in an English-speaking environment and need more English in order to function well at work and to make the best of their stay;
  • for their families, who need to improve their English in order to manage and enjoy life in England.
Summer Courses

During the summer, we run courses in general English, in which you will learn grammar, vocabulary and skills in speaking, listening, writing, reading, pronunciation and sentence structure.
